alkalma
alkalma is a mental health and wellbeing group operating specialist centres across Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The group relaunched under the alkalma brand and needed its digital platform to match: a site that loads fast on mobile, ranks for the treatments people actually search for, and turns enquiries into bookings without anything falling through the cracks.
We took ownership of the WordPress platform end to end — front-end performance, the search migration off the previous brand, the enquiry pipeline, and the operational safety net behind it all.
Healthcare visitors arrive anxious and mostly on mobile. We mapped the journey from symptom search to booked appointment, audited every template, and set the brief: cut load time, protect the rankings carried over from the previous brand, and make no enquiry disappear.
The homepage hero video was re-encoded from 13.2 MB down to 2.5 MB, imagery moved to WebP, and fonts were converted to woff2 and preloaded. Largest Contentful Paint dropped from 5.5s to 1.2s — the difference between a visitor waiting and a visitor leaving.
Titles and meta descriptions were rewritten across 34 pages, a full redirect map recovered the equity from the group's previous brand URLs, and thin archives were pruned from the index — taking the sitemap from 17 down to 6 so crawlers spend their budget on pages that matter.
We corrected double-counted GA4 traffic, standardised every enquiry form, and piped submissions straight into a live Google Sheet with a weekly digest to the team. A daily off-site backup of the database and media to Amazon S3 runs quietly behind it all.
alkalma now runs on a platform that loads in a fraction of the time it used to, keeps the search visibility built up under the group's earlier brand, and routes every patient enquiry to a named owner the same day. The team publishes and expands the site themselves — new centres, specialists, programmes and articles — without needing a developer for routine changes.
