Senior WordPress Developer

About the role

Own WordPress and WooCommerce delivery for our e-commerce clients — custom themes, plugins, performance and security — from design handoff to launch and beyond.

A large share of Codelabs' client work is e-commerce: fashion, beauty, FMCG and retail brands running on WordPress and WooCommerce. As the senior WordPress developer you'll own that delivery line — building custom themes from Figma, extending stores with plugins and integrations, keeping live sites fast and secure, and setting the coding standard for WordPress work across the team.

What you'll do

• Develop custom WordPress themes and plugins from Figma designs — no page-builder shortcuts on client builds
• Build, customise and maintain WooCommerce stores: catalogues, checkout flows, payment gateways
• Integrate third-party services: payment providers, shipping APIs, CRMs, analytics
• Optimise Core Web Vitals, caching, image pipelines and database performance
• Harden security and run structured update/backup routines across client sites
• Review WordPress work from other developers and mentor where needed

What we're looking for

• 4+ years building WordPress sites professionally, with custom theme and plugin development
• Deep WooCommerce experience: setup, customisation, payment gateway integration
• Strong PHP, JavaScript, HTML/CSS fundamentals — you can work outside the WordPress bubble
• Performance tuning experience you can demonstrate: before/after numbers on real sites
• Portfolio of live stores you've built or significantly extended
• Based in Karachi; this is an on-site role

Nice to have

• Shopify (Liquid) experience for cross-platform projects
• Headless WordPress / REST API project experience
• Arabic-language site experience (RTL) for GCC clients
